This is the new VW California

The basic vehicle with two sliding doors enables a new three-room concept with a kitchen that can be used from the outside, giving a more spacious feeling of living. The VW California is significantly more flexible in everyday life and when camping thanks to a more variable interior concept.

Enjoy life in nature with the VW California

The living and kitchen area of the motorhome has been completely rethought. For the first time, this VW California is also equipped with a sliding door on the kitchen side. This extends the usability to the outside area of the pitch more than before, opening up a new dimension of summer camping in the great outdoors. Until now, all California models based on the Bulli had the kitchen block extending up to the B-pillar on the left-hand side and a sliding door on the right-hand side; this door was the main portal - both in everyday life and when camping.

In addition to the 230V induction hob, there is also an integrated gas hob, as we know it from previous generations. A 230 V socket on the outside of the kitchen and an outside folding table perfect life on the pitch. The kitchen drawers are accessible from the outside and inside. 

VW California Interior

Interior designed down to the last detail in the VW California

The electric parking brake of the VW California ensures that the passage between the driver and front passenger seats towards the rear is much easier to use. Practical drawers under the front height-adjustable swivel seats and the individual seats in the rear extend the storage space. This provides space behind the driver's or front passenger's seat for a removable dry separating toilet, for example.

The upper and lower kitchen cupboards, which are located behind the refrigerator, offer plenty of storage space. There is also a separate storage area under the bed extension. The interior of the VW California is bathed in a pleasant light thanks to all-round, dimmable ambient lighting in the roof frame. The ambient lighting on the wardrobe adapts to your personal mood in different colours. A removable table lamp integrated into the kitchen block creates the right atmosphere outside for cosiness at the camping table. If it needs to be a little brighter, the LED lighting attached to the awning arms bathes the «terrace» on the vehicle in a pleasant light.

VW California Exterior design

Pop-top roof and high-quality roof bed

For the first time, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is presenting a three-room concept with the show car. These exterior and interior situations for the camper pitch and everyday use significantly extend the range of applications and usability of the VW California. A Bulli as a California is unthinkable without the classic pop-top roof. This is also the case with the VW California. It consists of the lightweight aluminium roof shell and a three-layer folding bellows, which has a large panoramic opening to the front. Generous windows on the sides provide a magnificent panoramic view.

As with all California models, the pop-top roof moves to its highest position at the front. USB-C sockets and LED lamps provide power and light in the pop-top roof. Meanwhile, a high-quality roof bed with spring plates guarantees a restful night's sleep under the stars.
